About

HISTORY

Charvis Campbell and Michael Bernstein established the Home Rule Music and Film Preservation Foundation during the COVID-19 pandemic.  As the owners of Home Rule Records (HR Records), a used music vinyl/record shop on Kennedy Street in Washington, DC, they witnessed first-hand the devastation of the pandemic on the live music community and the direct and hard impact on local DC musicians.  As a result, Charvis and Mike started the Foundation as a way of supporting local DC musicians by providing funding and a safe space for live music.

MISSION

The mission of the Home Rule Music and Film Preservation Foundation is to promote, support and preserve DC music and film through performance, education and advocacy.

The Home Rule Music and Film Preservation Foundation is incorporated in Washington, DC as a nonprofit corporation under DC Code Title 29 Chapter 4, and has been officially classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) organization.
